Yes. We work exclusively with European, privacy-friendly solutions that comply with the GDPR. Your data is stored on European servers and protected according to European standards, with no ads and without anyone reading along. For email, for example, we use mailbox.org, a German provider with full encryption. There's a second point that matters to us: we build with open-source tools. That means you always keep full control over your site, over every line of code and every piece of content. You're not trapped in a closed system. If you ever want to switch to another provider, you can take your entire site with you. It belongs to you, not to us.

It depends on the scope here too. Hosting comes with running costs, and how high they are depends on how complex your site is. A simple presentation site needs less than a large online shop that's constantly processing data. A small service should also have small costs, you only pay for what your site actually needs. On top of that, you can add a maintenance package if you'd like us to look after your site long-term. You decide for yourself whether you want just hosting, just maintenance, or both together. The domain is billed once a year, transparently and with no hidden markups.

Website maintenance simply means somebody looks after your site once it's live. That it stays up, stays updated, and that the content stays current. Not to be confused with a CMS, which is the system you write your content in. Maintenance is the work, not the software.

Updates for systems that need them, like WordPress. If your site doesn't need updates, we look after other things instead: content changes, new pages, search reports and the adjustments that help the site rank higher. We can also take over a site somebody else built. Hosting and uptime monitoring aren't part of the contract, they come with the hosting and are billed separately.

No, and plenty of people don't have one. If your site rarely changes and next working day is soon enough, paying by the hour is perfectly fine. Either way, if something breaks because of us, fixing it costs nothing. A contract makes sense if you want to change things regularly, or if it matters that you can reach us outside working hours without paying the full out-of-hours rate. Contract holders pay less for it. Hosting is always separate either way.

They accumulate. If you don't use the hour in a given month it carries over, and you can bank up to six. Once you hit the ceiling, the oldest hour drops off. That way you can save up for a bigger change instead of spending the time on small things just to use it.

Monitoring comes with the hosting and alerts us. We'll get in touch the next working day and look into it if you want us to. An emergency means the site is down or badly broken, not a text you'd like changed tonight. If the fault is ours, fixing it costs nothing. Anything outside our control is billed, contract or not. Work outside normal hours costs more, and less if you have a contract.

Yes, at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the following month, not the current one. If you cancel in March, the contract ends at the end of April. No lock-in and no minimum term.
